I’ve been craving for some oaked chardonnay and husband said they have this one in store, so we tried! This californian chardonnay is full of aroma of riped peach, rock melon, apple, fresh cut riped pineapple aroma, grapefruit and lime, also that interesting buttery, toasty, roasted corn tea like aroma with hint of smokey vanilla. On the palate, very smooth, creamy and buttery mouth feel also some spice with low acidity, medium bodied with short finished. Overall it’s enjoyable, will explore other oaked chardonnay next time!
Anw, the difference between oaked and unoaked chardonnay is that oaked chardonnay is aged in oak barrels, while unoaked is not. When chardonnay spends time in oak barrels instead of steel or plastic tanks, the oak imparts flavors into the wine that resemble sweet vanilla, caramel, toast, and butter aroma. Enjoy yours, cheers!
